I can barely believe I just wrote the words “So long, 2016”. This year has felt like a blur with such a crazy whirl of activity in my household – stress, challenges, achievements and the pure joy/frustration of chasing a cheeky toddler around while he effortlessly devours (and spreads the crumbs of) 20 Jatz biscuits in one go. We sold a house, bought a new house, packed, unpacked, caught too many planes to count and, amazingly, we survived an international move.
The best part, by far, of this year for me has been rediscovering my love of writing. When I was young, I was an avid reader and loved writing in my journal or jotting down stories and poems. Yet somehow as the years rolled by, I got too busy to sit down with pen and paper. Actually, I got too busy just to sit down and be still. Writing this blog has suddenly reminded me that I have a passion for telling stories. Coupling this with my love for weddings and events, it has really become a dream hobby. I have thoroughly enjoyed doing interviews, attending wedding fairs (hello, yummy cake samples!) and giving my two cents on various topics for future brides and grooms.
I have been lucky enough to also be a writing intern for the fabulous Whimsical Wonderland Weddings, which gives me a weekly fix of unique and glorious celebrations from around the world. Hoorah.
I would like to thank everyone who reads my blog, looks at my Instagram or Facebook and has encouraged me in 2016. Don’t go anywhere (apart from a holiday, maybe), as 2017 will bring loads more content, interviews and real wedding features. I am also starting my own business, Must. Love. Stories., launching in January. For anyone who has thought about getting their love story or wedding story on to paper, but simply never got the time, I’ll be your girl! This is super dooper nerve-wracking (in a great way) for me and I can’t wait to tell you more in the New Year. Brisbane friends, you will find me at the fabulous Bride’s Market in May. I’ll be the one dancing around with over-the-top excitement.
Merry Christmas to you and your family. I hope 2017 brings a year of adventure, joy, love and of course… weddings!
Cheers to a brilliant New Year. Abby xx
